    Color is great, DoF seems right on, good catch-light in its eye, one leg stance is cool, but it would be nice to see a bit of beak & the rest of the tail feathers. Then ther's that damn stick you mentioned.

    I think you focal point is the foot and the rock below the bird, the eye and profile seem soft.
    No, I DON'T need that.

    Its a lovely photo with beautiful colours. I have to agree with MB1 about the softness around the eye. Try some selective sharpening to see if you can claw back some sharpness.

    It could be compression causing the problem of course.

    Depends on the camera, try zooming in on the eye on viewfinder to see how sharp it is.

    The composition isn't the best but I do like the subject and how you were able to capture her before the moment was lost. In that sense it is definitely a success (!) Ducks really liven up the ponds..

    GB, i plan on reshooting as soon as weather and schedule permits. what kind of composition would be better? (or is it just the rock/stick?)
