Love it. Great lines and minimalist subject. The person is in the perfect place on the stairs.
Only thing I wish was different is the washed out upper left.
Stunning, the figure on the stairs really helps this scene and the bold shape contrasts well against the finer details of the bannisters and narrow lines throughout the scene. Can you post the original just to see how far this came?
I am interested to know Guillermo when your work was shot? Everything you've posted has been -- to my eye -- very professional, but somehow, not taken recently.
This particular shot of the stairs reminds me of black and white pictures that I took back in the 60s. Perhaps you just have a "retro" style.
At any rate, I am enjoying your work and, this is no exception. Keep 'em coming!

My love for others is NOT conditional on their meeting my standards.

Totally agree, this is a seriously great shot

Totally disagree in my mind this is an exemplary use of tonal range. If there was no light area at the top, it would cause serious compositional problems with the darkness at the bottom.

I believe what we are seeing is that Guillermo shoots with film. It appears that this is suddenly a retro thing to do and his finishing style seems to enhance that effect.

I also wonder if monitor differences will cause that area to appear washed out. I have a laptop that is not regularly calibrated and that area does appear too light but on my calibrated desktop monitor those areas show good grain and tonality, just lighter.
The more I look the more questions I have.
It now appears to me to be a photo of a painting rather than an actual shot of a stairway through a narrow window.
Could you tell us more about this shot, Guillermo?
Very Nice, I've never heard of this place till now, and the first question I was going to ask was, "Where is this?" and "Where did you take this from?"
Excellent. I love the grain working in this. The minimalist composition, as well as the details such as the position of the person on the stairs is striking. I actually find the washed out areas especially that of the upper left appealing.
Really well done!

I love this shot! It kind of looks like a drawing but that doesn't bother me. I love the grain, the black and white, the tonal range in the black and whites, and the composition. Not to mention the person in the stairway. Excellent job!
