    Staircases

    I think my compacts in-built flash was a bit overstretched here.
    What do you think of composition etc

    OB, I really would like this shot a lot more if there wasn't such pronounced grain. I like the composition very much, but I just feel like there is too much contrast and detail obscured by the grain structure. All in all, though, it's still a very interesting shot.
    Good work!

    I wonder if having more of the bottom would give more symmetry to the shot (I think the symmetry is the strong part of the composition here).

    Good shot, Tom. the symetry is strong here and works well. The persons on the stairs add good elements and the exposure is fine. i like that the spot lights are the white points in the scene. As for the grain, yes it's there but I felt that i did not mind it right from the start. you could always use a noise and grain reduction filter to smooth it out a bit. i like this as it is,good one.

    Hi Tom,
    Good eye! The symmetry works well. Just my opinion, the 4 people in the shot are too close together and weaken the composition a wee bit. Nice shot!

    Symmetry is perfect. Yoyo also pointed out that the four people are a little too close. I'd have to agree, even if you had somebody on the far staircase, it would add alot to the picture! Nice shot and good eye,

    Hey OB,

    Thumbs up! I think that is a nice composition. I also don't mind the grain.

    It would be interesting, though, to see it cleaner and w/o people. Maybe sometime you return with a tripod and your main camera. I could see many architectural studies of that staircase. Good find, good eye.

    Re: Staircases

    I'm sorry its taken so long for me to come back and thank you all for your comments.
    MadCow;
    Yes it is grainy; possibly caused by my compacts abilit to capture the scene any better. It was a huge ares to cover. Lots of speckled marble too everywhere.

    Jared and Yoyo;
    Yes I think different position ing of the people would have helped alright.

    Gary; I'm glad you mentioned the lights because I also thought they were a great asset to the overall.
    I put this through a noise remover but the end result showed little difference,

    Old School; I'm afraid it was my main camera up until today when I ordered a Pentax dslr.

    CB and Erich; Thanks for your comments indeed.

    Bobby; It was taken inside Shanghai Museum last year.
    Regards to all
