Staircase - Color or B&W what works for you?

I visited an old church yesterday and reshot a staircase I'm leaning towards the black and white but wanted a wider opinion. What do you prefer?

I think the color photo works better, and i think that hinges on the fact that the windows look like they're glowing whereas they don't in the black and white. I don't know, maybe you could get that effect in the B&W if you kicked up the contrast a bit. Nice stairs though.

I would say black and white, only if you crank the contrast to get some nice harsh tones. I think the color is lacking, and the over exposed area really hurts both black and white and color. But making the black and white nice and dark would help alot.

    Nice eye and composition,

Well first of all I am partial to B&W, and in my opinion this image looks better in B&W. The color is dominated by the wood color (brown) and jsut does not have the "old" feeling that the B&W does.

    Just my opinion!

Lovely staircase you have to appreciate the hard work that went in to making this staircase, like the builder just did not go into Home Depot and get it made .By the looks of it this it`s all hand crafted it must be over a 100 years old . My only critique on both photo`s is the glare coming of the right handrail. The B&W conversion is very good ,but the color one does it best for me it tells me the hole story here .It gives me the feeling of something that has withstood time .
    Well done

I prefer the B&W also, it just seems lacking with color. You may want to try the B&W/sepia effect, to give it a bit of "age" too.

Thanks for the input, I've got some more photos of the church that I'll be posting after i postprocess them, I actually spent around 2 hours at this church shooting various aspects.

    Thanks again for your input!

I actually think that this is a very good candidate for sepia. I also agree that the contrast needs to be cranked up a bit. A wee bit of sharpening would add to the image as well.

Nice work though. It's sometimes tough to capture architecture effectively.
