Great work again YoYo. I think you could eliminate the upper floor. Just a nit pick.

Very interesting photo. I presume it was taken in Hong Cong.

    Re: Squares

Great photo (as usual); I could look at it for hours.

The usual questions: did you use a remote release and MLU? (And btw, do you see a huge benefit to using MLU handheld?) What were the settings? Etc.

Did you did much of anything in CR or Photoshop?

    Another good one, yo-yo.
I agree with Greg about cropping the top floor.

    Re: Squares

Hi Greg and Frog, Thanks a lot for the helpful suggestion.

Don, Yes, the photo was taken in Hong Kong.

Hi Dray, Thanks for the kind words. The settings were: 1/50s (handheld with MLU) and f4. I always use MLU when the shutter speed is below 1/100s. I think it is a must for the sharpness. Regarding the post-processing, the photo was corrected for lens and perspective distortion using EPaper Press, then the contrast was slighted adjusted, and finally a medium sharpening was applied.

Awesome! I love the contrast of the metal bars (? not sure if that is exactly what they are) in the middle of the image breaking up the squares.

    Re: Squares

Yoyo - thanks, as always, for your answers. I think I'm going to have to start using MLU more often.

Two more questions: what was the ISO? And when you do use MLU handheld, are you using a cable release?

    Thanks again.

    Re: Squares

    Hi Dray,
I am gald that you are interested in the settings. The ISO was 640; I did not use a cable release in taking this shot.

    Hi Z
Thanks for the kind words. The metal bars are black, so the colour is similar to the depicted in the photo.

    Re: Squares

Fantastic and fully agree with cropping the top slightly, would also be tempted to photoshop 'TOTO' to 'YOYO' but that might just be getting silly!!

    Re: Squares

I like it. It's funny because I was going to suggest this type of crop for the other image you posted.

    Re: Squares

    Yoyo,
Others have suggested cropping the top, but I think I understand why it's framed the way it is and I really like it as posted.

Can't believe you'd do that to the Rolls Royce of toilets! (Yes, it's a toilet store)

    Re: Squares

What can I say Yoyo, other than awesome shot. I agree that you could remove a floor or two from the top and still have a great shot (doing so seems to create a different type of feeling, more confined and manageable).

    Re: Squares

I like that picture, it reminds me of Borneo, Malaysia. They have the same set up, where the work in those buildings, and live above them. so the workers of the TOTO store usually live right above it.

    where was this taken?

    Hi GF,
Thanks for the information about the buildings in Malaysia. The photo was taken in an old neighborhood in Hong Kong.
