A sparkler of some kind since the spark isn't originating between the electrode and ground not to mention plugs never make that nice a light show. Great shot idea..

    Hi Almo

Think this is what they will call a " staged photo "

What i did was to tie the spark plug with a thin piece of wire hanging from the roof.
Used a " blow torch lighter " think that is what you call it ? to create the sparks.
Set the shutterspeed to 8s and aperture wide open . Used the 10 second time delay to gave myself chance to get to the sparkplug in time . Got this one after about 30 something shots.
Cropped out where my hand was and cloned the thin wire .
Oh and i had a black background .

Maybe i should call it a " turbo sparkplug "

    Regards
    james

    Re: Sparkplug

Great creativity , James. I like that your experimenting with different ideas, especially in lighting effects. How far was the backdrop from the subject? Where the light sparks are I see the bg beginning to show evidence of exposure, and I think this shot would be stronger with a completely dark or blach bg. Try moving subject further away from the bacdrop. I think a good idea would be to use a more interesting spark plug ( maybe a racy type design or an old corroded one with textures to marvel at) and have the wire and boot atached to the plug leading out of the frame. Just some suggestions. Good work
