    South Haven

Seems to me that the sunlight across the water is competing with the lighthouse for my attention??

    Thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Phil

I'm having mixed feelings about this on myself.
I kind of like the angle it is shoot at, but it looks more like a silhouette to me, with a hint of red to the one side.
I think to make it really pop and stand out is to shoot it 12 hours later (when the sun is on the other side)

I like the perspective and your detail in the waves. Are those sunrays I see coming through the clouds? I might crop the right side a little closer to the light globe. Less light on the left side and more on the right would have been great - My newbie 2 cents.

This truly is a beautiful photo.. and yes, the only issue is the dilemma... two beautiful points of interest.... a reframing is the only thing that might solve this, i agree.

Alternatively, turning the lighthouse into a complete silhouette might help!

Thanks for the input. I got to thinking about the comments on silouette and thought I'd try converting it to BW. I think this is better.

    Thanks,

Although the colors were great, I think the B&W turned out quite nicely... good work!

    Re: South Haven

Yes, it is competing, but I view this as having two OK subjects instead of one or even zero. The light house's draw is really its shape, quite unlike the sun.

I think this is a decent shot and probably a 7/10. Areas that it could be better that might push it up the rankings are something interesting happening in the foreground, lose of detail, and perhaps the fact a nice as the light house's shape is, it can only go so far on the interest level. A 7 isn't bad

    the b&w is very nice

if it' easy to go back, a reshoot with different light may turn out better
