Re: Some pictures from the weekend

I love the second shot, right on down to the lens flare. Great action captured at a GREAT angle. Way to go!
The third shot doesn't really do it for me, however, as the blown out sky that worked for the second is just distracting here. The position of this biker in the frame is sort of static in my mind (even though he's obviously in motion).
The first shot is nicely done, but I think it could use a little more exposure and contrast. The foreground is almost black so you might as well just go all the way, and the colors in the sky are lovely, so let's see them a little brighter!
All around nice work. Thanks for posting!

Some interesting shots here! I like the first and second, as for the same reasons McMad pointed out. Having the overblown exposed area in the second one right behind the rider and his bike is a great touch, and definately brings out the rider much more!

    Well done!

The first and second are the best. I with the sky in the first one was brighter too, etc, but it wasn't much of a sunset to work with. The second shot I love and it only took me a few tries to get it right (get the rider in the frame becasue I was zoomed in as much as you can see and from the speed the rider was going it was hard to get him perfectly in the frame with nothing cut out). The third shot I put here for fun because it also took me a while to get that one right, the timing on that picture could not have been better. Thanks for the reviews, keep them coming if you want! ;)

All three are great The bottom ones are nuts. The only thing I could see that would improve them is a more dramatic sky. I did a quick Corel Photopaint adjustment, which shows the potential. I like the top shot a lot too, very relaxing.

Wow, that quick edit made it really good! Is that a free program, and is it better than Paint Shop Pro 5 (what I have)? I actually didn't edit the biking pictures, and I only enhanced the colors on the first one a little bit.

dwaugh - No, Corel isn't free but it is cheaper than Photoshop et al. I think they own PSP now so there's probably a lot of similarity between them. I just created a mask around the rider and uped the contrast and lowered the density of the background. This one was easy to edit because the compactness of the subject (rider) made it easy to mask him.

You can also see a slight outline around him though, a result of upping the contrast between him and the background. I bet I could have adjusted it so that didn't show, but it was a quick edit.

I noticed the line too. I'll have to try this way of editing sometime. Thanks for the idea. I should have more pics if it doesnt rain this weekend.
