Some Photos of Mine

Hi all,

I'm kinda new in this forum & I want to improve my photography skills.
I like to take portrait photo (candid or spontanous shot is fine hehe). I like landscape & night shot too.
Here's some of my photos.

# 2 and # 4 are my favorites.

On # 2 I like how the skaters in the backgroud are blurred. The only thing I'd do is remove what's on the bottom of the frame - I don't think doesn't add to the picture.

I really like the scene in # 4.

The night landscape is fine but nothing special.

Your second image of the snow covered alley looks real neat and is a nice use of B&W but seems to me to be tilted to the right a little bit.

Your 2 shots of multiple women-the girls look nice and happy but the images would probably be better if you didn't have their faces so close to the center lines of the frame. I think these would be better with a crop from the top or if you had pointed your camera down a little more. Your picture of the skaters also has something odd below their feet that could be cropped off too.

Your portrait of the woman and flowers is the most professional looking of these images. You kept her head out of the center of the frame, your use of her hands and arms gives a nice line drawing the viewers eye to her face. The out of focus flowers in the foreground are nicely positioned. I would crop this one from the right to get rid of whatever that is in the upper right corner and perhaps a small crop from the top to tighten things up.

BTW it is a lot easier to critique when you only post one pic at a time unless you looking for an choice of which similar image is best.

for the BW photo, I was trying not to tilt it to the right. but i can't since that day was snowing.
So i tried to keep my camera from snow. I took cover and it was a little bit to the right. and that was i could do.. tilt to the right, hehe.

next time i'll try to crop the photo, but sometime when we do croping, the image won't look proportional ain't it? I mean all of my photos which i posted here are 640x427 pixels. If i crop them i don't think it will proportional like that.
Or there's some other way? to make it proportional?

ups, i against the rule hehe.... ok then next time i'll just post one pic.

There are all sorts of formats available and they all have their advantages and disadvantages. To me what is important is getting as good an image as we can and not so much about what shape that image ends up being.

If you really want to keep the same format as your camera offers then make real sure to look all around the frame before shooting. Otherwise cropping is a good way to get rid of odd things that crop up around the edges of our images.

Hello Drew

Thanks for sharing your images. I like what I see very much. My favorite is the third picture of the three women together except that I would use a background that was not as distracting. Maybe a plain background such as a white wall. I think that the women expressions make that picture.

The B/W alley is interesting but I feel that something is missing when I look at it. Maybe a person or two in the distance would have helped. There appears to be someone standing at the left of the background, but I can't make it out.

I agree with MB1 about the rest of the images. Although I find nightscapes interesting to look at.
