Not bad but somewhat soft. Its hard to shoot indoor w/o flash, esp when the subjects are moving and (presumably) you cant use a tripod due to the inconvenience it would cause on the audience. I like the top one better, the other is just too clipped off.

Perhaps you can get a telephoto lens and set up way in the back and use a *slow* SS and see how the blur looks on firm? Esp a spinning motion

    Re: Some b&w...

I agree with GB...the pictures are relatively soft. I also like the first one, just as it seems the girl behind the main subject is "mimicking" the one in front of her. GB does bring up a good point though about trying some slow shutter speeds, might be an interesting shot.

Good try though and I"m sure you did the best you could with the circumstances you were given.

    Hi Payne,

I really like that 1st shot. Great expression and pose. It could be sharper as GB noted. You may also want to try increasing the contrast a little and/or a different crop taking a little from the right and left.

    Nice job,

    Re: Some b&w...

The softness doesn't bother me at all.
I love the spotlight on the lady in front and the lady at the back is nicely blurred. Wonderful dof.
I also love the close up. I am a big fan of close-ups. I'm saying nothing about you cutting her arm off because this happens with close ups
As for the mimicking, well that's choreography. Nice to know they were in time with one another.
    I love them both!!!

Payn, I think that the first one is quite excellent (beside the already mentioned softness). Your framing is great, so is the dof and the lighting.

I am not found of the second one. The framing seems mistaken although I can't quite say how it could be reworked. The noise is a little too obvious as well.

    regards

edit: the order of the pictures changed for some reasons!!?!? Just to make things clear, my favorite one is the zoomed out picture. I am not found of the close up....

Thanks everyone. I forgot to do USM on these. Still working out a digital workflow. It's like I'm starting over in some ways...sigh

It was certainly difficult to shoot, as some of you have mentioned about this series. There were a few of us shooting from the same area, and no room to move. It made me laugh when I looked at the other people's gear, because one was shooting Nikon, one Canon, and me KM. Reminded me of the battle of the clans thread.
