    softball time

    well I managed to make it out to a softball game, got this shot, trying to decide if the cropped look on the shot works, well let me know what you guys think, ill try to get some more next week too, im kinda new to sports shooting.

    Shawn,

    Technically, this shot is great. Love the colors, the lighting is beautiful, and the DOF is bang on. Compositionally, this doesn't work for me. It's awfully busy (four players; all at different depths) and there's no ball to tell the story here. This shot has huge potential, but I think, especially with sports photography, simplicity is a good thing. Nice shot, though a few nitpicks.

    I hear you on the ball not being in there, having the ball or action in the shot means alot to me personally, never thought about simplicity in shots, but will keep it in mind, ill post some more up soon, thanks for the critiques so far.

    Much better IMO. Great shot techinically and the simplicty is great. Is that dust coming off of the catcher's mitt? I love the shot though, well done!

    thanks jar e, yea its dust coming off the mitt, when i darkend the back ground it kinda made it look like a mini cloud or something lol, Im gonna print it out today and see what it looks like to decide if i should tone it down a lil or not, but thanks again.

    When I first viewed it I thought the cloud of dust was added digitally, but I think it works for sure. Great shot!
