Need some help here. What could I have done more at the time of shoot. Basically pulled camera out real fast and shot as it was raining.

Nikon D80 with Tamron 17-50mm 2.8. Kept the SB600 in the camera bag.

The First one is really good. The orange ball contrasts really well with the otherwise grey tones. I like how the mountain tops peek through the landscape. The composition is good and you've exposed for the snow perfectly. The separation in the dog's legs are also great in both shots, and more so in the first. just perfect position. I really have no nitpicks.
