Cindy - The tree and snow (and fog?) could be great supporting material. Not sure it can stand on it's own however. The sign at the bottom could be a good subject. Seems a little too soft for me. Keep shootin'

Now that's a winter blast. I would like to see more at the top. Nice shot....

I think it'd better if it were a shot of a wider scene, shot with a wider angle lens. Right now it looks more like a photo of a tree. I don't "feel" the blast in this photo. But I'm guess it's a crop?

I wish there was more detail in the center tree although with that light I don't know how you could have gotten any more than you did. Like the others I wish the top of the tree wasn't cropped off-I'm thinking it wouldn't hurt to have just a little less on the bottom to get the entire top of the tree.
    No, I DON'T need that.

    Re: Snow Blast

Thanks for the great critique so far Guys! I was in Colorado last weekend and it snowed (Huh, go figure! ]. I was walking down the road in a neighborhood near where I was staying when I had a 15 - 20 mph gust kick fresh powder down the hill through these trees. The structure is a kid's tree house, and I think there is a focus problem with the first one, it was the first shot I got off of three. There was a small crop from straightening which cramped out the top of the tree. Here's a second shot with more breathing room around the tree and better overall focus althoough I don't really see the "blast" effect quite as easily here and I think the strong highlight from the sun takes away as well.

GB - You're right, this is another one of those almost but not quite shots for me. Not really enough going for it yet I couldn't resist taking it; so I did the best I could with the scene I had.

    Re: Snow Blast

I like the 2nd shot a lot better. It seems to have more grain, but it's still a lot better composition than the first, and the lighting seems better too. Also, I know what you mean about getting what you can. Better something than nothing! Esp when you see an op and have to get off a shot in about 3 seconds..
