    Ski Fence

I went out to the mountains this weekend, and in the middle of nowhere, there was a fence made out of old skis. I wasn't sure what to shoot, so I shot everything! What do you think of these, and what would you do differently?

I like image four, going from top to bottom. Nice colors, good framing, and gives the best perspective of the unique subject. My only change would be the branch hanging down on the right side of the image. Other than that, nice shot.

That's one way to recycle of skis. Think of all the money these once cost and now there a fence.

Too bad all the people who know how to run this country are busy running taxicabs or cutting hair.

    Thanks, CF.

Yeah, it would be an expensive fence, jbaldocchi!

    Re: Ski Fence

That is really strange! Some of those ski's look as if they have never been used. No bindings anyway. Are they cracked gouged or were they rentals (little tags/brands on the heel or toe of the ski face)?

Photographically I'd suggest as much depth of field or a closeup of one or two with the rest falling off into the background and out of focus.

How close is this to a major ski area?

I've heard of some Europeans leaving their skis out for some sort of conditioning in years past, but not with modern skis.

    Intriguing sight you came across.

    Thanks for sharing!

    Thanks for the comments.

I'm no skier, but as far as I could tell they weren't cracked or especially beat up. I was right in a major ski area (Kimberley/Fernie BC area), so that explains a little.

    Re: Ski Fence

I used to do home donation pickups for a thrift store. We ended up with so many skis, we stopped taking them.
I would like to see a wider perspctive of these to show how out of place they seem to be.
