    Sitting Pretty

I have never seen a duck like this so I was thrilled to capture its photo.

The duck by itself is espcially well captured but the water makes the shot, the rendition is gorgeous.

    Re: Sitting Pretty

Thank you all so very much. I truly appreciate the kind words.

I had a rather humbling experience this morning on this "bird shoot." I took 113 exposiers, got home, loaded them on the computer, and for one reason or another I trashed 107. This is one of six that I kept. So, it makes me feel good to know at least one is worthy.

The water is so gold because it is reflecting a liquid amber that is brilliant yellow. Fall has finally arrived in San Diego.

    Thanks again.

    Re: Sitting Pretty

Beautiful shot! Personally I would have cropped out the right hand side so that the head / front of the bird fitted the rule of thirds; that said, I am very jealous of you having such a pin sharp picture!!!

    Re: Sitting Pretty

    McPaul,

Thanks for the comments and the suggestion. I played with the cropping but really wanted the ripples in the water ahead of the bird. Keeping that required the head and reflection of the head be smack dab in the middle of the shot. You give some, you get some.

    Thanks again.

    Re: Sitting Pretty

You certainly nailed this - perfect capture and the reflection in the water complements the bird perfectly. Composition inspired.

    Re: Sitting Pretty

CF, just to add to the others about a great capture you made here. Colors and reflection really beautiful. I assume the golden color is the yellow leaves of your Fall reflecting on the pond. Great work

    Roger/Gary:

Thanks very much for the kind words. I appreciate it very much. Yes, Fall has finally arrived in southern California. The wood duck was just in the sun light but under a liquid amber that is flame orange/yellow.

    Thanks again.
