    Simple Lines

So I've been walking around my neighbourhood, trying to find things to photograph and I came across this. I think it's rather simple, yet it has something for me.

    What do you think?

I like the idea but the colours seem a little flat, the reflection in the bottom window is also a little distracting, I would also crop from the right hand side a little.

This photo is supposed to be poster-like. It works that way. Somehow i think it is too balanced. Maybe part of the buildingshuld be cropped to make it balance more toward the sky.

Thanks for your input! I deliberately broke the rule of thirds, I thought it might work better that way.

I realise the bottom window is distracting, but there isn't much else I could do about it.
Thanks for the time to comment.

Actually, there is something you can do about it if you don't mind post-processing with Photoshop and the like. Doesn't look like it'd be difficult either.

I tend to agree with Don on the poster-size point.

If you use Photoshop, try the "patch tool" and do some tidying up if necessary. This should allow you to remove/replace the window.

    Can I do this using PS Elements 6.0? I don't have CS3

Sooner or later Adobe will try to sell you the full Photoshop with a significant discount. I used Elements 5 before. I bought CS3 because Adobe was selling it at half-price.

Can you use copy and paste? I don't know if Elements 6 has it. What copy and paste does essentially is paste on the distracting part a copy of some good part of the image. I've never tried it myself

Another thing I can think of is take some time and simply clone out the window using clone tool

One more way I've tried is to use two layers/copies of the same image. One on top of each other but not in alignment. The idea is to erase the distracting element on the top layer to reveal the other part of, say, the wall without the window in the bottom layer/copy of the image. I probably am not explaining it well, but if you know how to do a collage, that's what I'm talking about but with two copies of the same image. Afterwards, you can use clone tool/healing brush to tidy up the transition if necessary. Hopefully it's easier to use mask in Elements 6
