    Re: The Sign

It doesn't do anything for me, I like the effect of the sun around the sign, but I don't feel anything for the shot overall, sorry S

    Re: The Sign

I kinda like this one, but I think if it were me, I'd bump the contrast a lot and the saturation just a bit, to give it that grainy old photo look.

[Edit] Something along these lines: (I did not spend a lot of time on this example)

    Re: The Sign

Thanks guys. To be honest, I don't know if there's much here; I was shooting for an abandoned feeling, starkness, isolation.. It seems to miss on all counts (though I'm not sure why..?)

Jet, I guess you meant to post an edit but it didn't make it. Try again, I'd like to see it. Here's a shot at an edit I just did.. seems like nothing worked, so I kept adding effects... I think it's a bit ridiculous myself.

I see myself wanting to crop from... below the signs with 1/2 inch post showing... and then centering the image. Can I try?

I like your edit Jet, think it's much better than mine. Yeah I wonder if there's a bug in the site software?

I think it makes for a great idea, but I don't think it works. Try shooting this at sunset?

Hard to know what to make of this one GB.
I feel there is not enough here to hold the eye. Perhaps the presence of a tall cactus or two close to the sign would help. But if they are not available ...... Photoshop?

I have a total lack of respect for anything connected with society, except that which makes the roads safer, the beer stronger, the food cheaper, and the old men and old women warmer in the winter and happier in the summer. Brendan Behan

yeah, I agree. Just too stark and too little detail, and the way the sign is angled doesn't help either. I guess the fact that we're evening discussing it shows that it has something though: perhaps an example of a missed op?
