I like the subject and pose.

The surrounding area is busy but I'm sure you could not ask the bird to pose somewhere less busy.

    Nice.

I was trying but the bird didn't want.

    Thank you for your comment.

The background is just too much of a distraction for this to work. If you had only moved a step or 2 to your right......
    No, I DON'T need that.

    Irina,

Your work is just spectacular, and this is no exception. I like the bird, the background does not bother me but what I just can't get past is the blurry line coming out of the birds back. Past that, this is a really nice photo.

Thank you for your comment. But unfortunately I cannot change the point of shoot now. Next time...

did you want to straighten the background? using rooftop or dock as guide.
Please ask to edit photos and I'll do the same!
    Thx, Rod

I like the edited version. You might also try layering the shot and doing a levels adjustment and seperate it a little more from the background. You might also try the magic wand on the top of his/her head and lower the brightness there. This is a very nice capture.

great shot. actually being that the backround is so busy i would apply a lens blur to the backround to give it less detail

I've straitened and made a little lighter the background. And this is a result. Is this better?

Yes it's getting better. It seems more seperated from the BG. I would still try and use the magic wand or burn tool and darken the top of his head. Very sharp and Very nice. I like it.

    Re: The shy pelican

excellent shot, the line going through it didn't bother me but I do see the second looks better. To me the second image and just straightened would do it. It would have maybe looked better if the bird had looked to the other side but hehe who knows and can't exactly ask him to do that. I thought the sky was a bit on the bright side as well, maybe a digital nd to take it down a hair. But that's all minor nitpicks really I think it's an excellent capture.
    but then...what do I know
