    Hello Alex,

I think that there is a lot of things to like about your picture. The crop, the lighting and the dof all work well here. My main concern is about the sharpness of your subject. I think that he is a bit too soft which diminish the visual impact of your shot. A slight unsharp mask would probably take it to the next level. Beside, I am not sure about the hot spot on his head. It's not overwhelming but it's not ideal either.

Not a bad shot. The expression creates some appeal, i like the lighting just touching the far side of the boys face and the light in his right eye. As Seb said, it is a bit soft, but does not bother me. just a bit more light in the face may have improved this

Lovely pic of a special moment in a childs life.I agree with suggestion on highlight in his left eye so have added one in.I think it makes a difference.Hope you dont mind me tinkering with your pic.

    Re: Shout

Love it - he looks so determined and focused I like the composition, how it is space in front of him so that he can shout at something. Maybe it might be better to crop the face a bit, get the sign on the shirt away. The lightning is not bad but it is hard to get that perfect! And the softness, well for me it works in this pic although I am usually a sucker for sharpness!

thanks all for your valuable comments and modification. Yes, a bit of highlight helps a lot, and for me the difficulty is how to make it as natural as it can be (given the poor ps skill that I have). Cropping the head a bit sounds good as well, as it will leave out the sign on the shirt. The sharpness of the original photo sounds good to me, but the quality declined after resizing. Thanks again for your comments.
