Should i continue to PS this?

Before i photoshop anything else...what do you all think of this? it still needs a bunch of corrections, but should i spend the time? Or should i reshoot. Or should i just abandon the thoughts of a succesful shot at this location?

Pano's always have some possibility, but this looks like a lot of work as the light doesn't match across the image.

I'd think you would want to include more of the bridge and make it the primary focus of the panorama with the sky and mountains as its setting.

Looks like it could be a very good setting, different time of day for more detail in the mountains perhaps? A clear moonlit night might worth investigating.

    Best wishes.

I'd reshoot with more room under the bridge.

next time make sure you shoot everything manual. manual exposure, manual wb, manual focus, manual everything. it's the only way to guarantee the same settings shot to shot.

i did. well...not manual focus, but are you saying neglect the light meter to a certain degree?

Re: Should i continue to PS this?

My understanding (and I could be wrong as I've never done a pano before) is to use the meter to measure an "average" area, then to use exposure lock so that all the pano is exposed with the same settings. The problem with using the meter for each shot is that different parts of the pano will have different lighting. As I said though, I could be wrong on this one. I think I read it in a mag.

A reshoot at the location is the best, and yes disregard the meter.... these shots should be made either well before sunset, or well after.... the reason is that during sunset light changes the fastest in matters of photography! (as far as my experience goes anyway...same with sunrise)

Then, you could do it, but dont give up on this location just yet....just make sure they follow suit!

Re: Should i continue to PS this?

This is the way I do it.

I pick a day which has constant light - no fast moving clouds unless its only 3 pics, then you'd get away with it.

Set the camera on the tripod

Take a meter reading on the brightest and darkest part and average the two. Set this in manual mode on the camera with the aperature at F8 speed whatever. I only use ISO 50/100 for landscapes. The meter reading I use is sometimes spot, sometimes evaluative but you need to view the amount of difference between dark and light items in the pic. If its reasonably constant then I use evaluative, Big range I use spot.

I set the focus on infinity and F8 top on mine F16+ on DSLR's

Then quickly take as many photos that you need. You can see my pano's on my web site.

    Hope that helps.

I would reshoot it. One thing I would do, would be to shoot these as verticles. It's going to give you more images to stitch together, but you will end up with a higher resolution file. That could be a good thing, or a bad thing.

every one thinks you should re shoot well you probably can for a natural look but i actually love this shot i like the different colors and how there not all even it looks like you riped different pictures out of a magazine. it looks cool i would add a riped paper effect to the edges. but i personally like the different colors.

And then shoot the image lying on a wooden table with a nice grain in it.

I like the concept and I like where you're going with it. Personally I think if you put the time into it you can fix the things that are wrong with it and it will be awesome... but the re-shoot would probably make it easier in the end.

Pages 360 and 361 of Scott Kelby's book The Photoshop CS2 Book for Digital Photographers explains how to fix the different exposure problem when creating pano's... looks pretty easy.
