    Shop and Lost

Tsim Sha Tsui - a shopping centre in Hong Kong, where you can find lost spirits.

    Hi Alex,

Nice colors. I really like the window reflections. It looks like the focus could be sharper though. Did you hand hold it or use a tripod?

I've been thinking about doing a series like this too.
    Cheers,

Hi Tim, I hold it as the light is bright enought for me to do so. I an very interested to see how your city would look like at night.

    Cheers,

    Alex

You caught a feeling for the transigence of the human in the city scene. The people seem tp cpme and go but the bricks and mortar stick around for a while.

    Nice abstract feeling throughout.

    Hello Alex.

I find your second and fourth picture to be both excellents. You captured a very special mood in these two. To me, it really feels like "lost spirits" in an inhuman place. Somewhat creppy yet fascinating.

I can figure out that the blur (which is perfectly justified here) comes from hand holding in a low light situation but what about "trail" effect arround people?

You must have a very steady hand to keep the camera that still at the speed you seem to be taking photos at.
I really like the colours captured in these photos and the ghostly effects of the people adds to the atmosphere in the shots.

My favourite is the second from the top, I find the almost double exposure which is offset at an angle intriguing.

    Re: Shop and Lost

    Hi all,

thanks for your kind comments. I guess I should have explained the photos at the beginning to avoid mis-conceptions, especially about their status of being "photos". The second and the fourth one are PS work (strictly speaking) that are equivalent to film's multiple exposures.
For the first and the third one I took the shots without tripod as the light source is strong enough and I set the ISO to 400.

I hope my lack of explanation at the beginning didn't offend you. I have also attached another one taken in another occasion for your comments. I would like to name this one "Spirit".

    Thanks and cheers,

    Alex

Great vision here, Alex. Each image, including the last, stands alone as well as working with the others in this series.

    Great work!

Re: Thumbs up on this last one...

This series adds an interesting aspect to the whole theme of materialism/advertising. I love how you never focus on the face or human details. Great affect, as you find this mysterious feeling towards the people, not learning about detail or facial expression or anything. Of course, the situations your shooting in helps this fact SO much, but great shooting.

    Love it,

    Jared
