    Shennoxi River Peapod

I'm new to this forum. Started to get interested in entering photo competitions at my local camera club. Would like feedback on this photo before entering.

I'm not sure how this one will print (it looks a little light on my calibrated monitor) but if it doesn't get first place there is something wrong with the judges.

    YMMV
    No, I DON'T need that.

Looking closely, the resolution seems to be off. I had a similar issue when I started using LR. I'm trying to find something to critique but noting stands out. LCCC...is that the photo club in Chicago? I've been meaning to get to one in Rockford, but the job and all...

Thanks for the comments - I recalibrated my monitor, and it is light.

LCCC is Lake County Camera Club - it would be a bout 1hr and 20 minute drive from Rockford, IL. Chicago has about 36 clubs in total ...LCCC is the biggest (I think).

Outstanding shot and composition. The framing is a bit tight on the left side, the rock that protrudes into the water seems to come from nowhere. A minor nitpick for an otherwise excellent shot.

I actually feel that the rock on the side adds to the composition. It actually draws my view to the boat and away from the otherwise empty sides. But thats just taste i guess.

Excellent photo, grats on the sticky!

    Popeye -

Welcome to the forums. I think you will like the feedback here overall.

My first impression when viewing the image in the Sticky icon was Wow! It seemed to have everything: composition, color, content. Then when I viewed it full size, my endorsement was just a tad less enthusiastic; somehow, it seems less detailed than it should be, less sharp, and the boat less elegant than in the small image. It could also use a slight contrast boost IMO (though my monitor is not calibrated). It is still a good shot and very deserving of the sticky, but it's not an over-the-top image because it doesn't have that professional level of sharpness that I believe it needs.

Suggestions are, try bumping up the contrast just a little, add a slight vignette to give it more elegance, and see if you can sharpen it any more w/o adding a processed look.

    Hope this helps. Welcome again,

    Beautiful. Sharp. Texture-rich.
