Shed (scenes from Bucks County, PA)

There were a few things wrong with this that I tried to bring back. Also giving it more of a rustic look to go along with the feel
    what do you think?
    thanks

not bad, although I think the house roof throws things off a bit. BTW, where in Bucks Co was this, it looks familiar. I used to live just North of Bucks Co. it was 1/2 mile to the county line, and I spent a lot of time in Bucks Co.

Thanks for commenting. This was just below Lake Nockamixon. A few miles or so. The road was a sort of backroad called Elephant Rd. We spent a couple of days roaming the areas. we stayed in quakertown and worked our way down to New Hope. We like the county alot, and look forward to going back for some more touring.

I agree with JS on the roof behind the shed. There is also a bell shaped object reflecting in the glass I would clone. I like how the middle area is in B&W. The sky almost looks as though there was a fire or something blowing smoke over the shed? I really like the overall composition and your PPing skills are top notch as always. Nice work.

    Gary,

I agree with the others on the roof. I initially thought it was part of the shed and wondered why the added that to a shed . I also like the slightly muted colors and the cloudy sky. I'm not sure about the leaves at the top. The seem somewhat disembodied and detached. I guess I'd like to see more of the tree or less of the leaves, I can't decide.

Greg and PC. . .thanks for your time. I spent a while doing a clean removal of the roof behind the shedand when i was done i just felt I liked it better with it in there. In my eyes, i see it giving a bit of further dimenesion somehow. however, having another comment on it from PC has me wondering about keeping it out. I guess it comes down to whats good for me. . .or for the picture. I'll feel this out some more. .
    thanks

I didn't eve notice the roof. the only thing that bothered me were the leafs at the top of the frame. but if they're not there, there seems to be a feeling of non-closure. That might be because I've seen the leafs already though. I love your tones here. Love the eased out colour palettes you use on your shots. It's very distinct. I don't have to look at who uploaded this shot to know it's a 'Gary' other than that, I'd say that I wish the sky wasn't so grey and monotone.

Actually, I like the sky here. It adds to the feeling the shot is giving off. I'm 50/50 on the overhanging branch. Great pp'ing Gary.

Gary, I just don't know what to say but I feel you deserve a comment.I just don't know what to say on this one , sorry.

I keep asking myself, what would I do with this picture, or where would I see this. I am getting no answers ( I talk to myself alot).

Re: Shed (scenes from Bucks County, PA)

    Hi Gary
The sky looks too dappled in this for me (post process?) and I also find the shed to be the least interesting of the outbuildings you have presented us with so far. I also feel that the evidence of post processing is very strong especially in the gradual change of colouring from the grass in the foreground to the trees in the background.
I think a more letter box format would suit this; reducing the amount of uninteresting sky and elimating the foliage which I honestly think is an intrusion.
I dont think the roof apex is a problem here at all but the overall I'm afraid is the first photograph from you that is not doing it for me.

Gary - I like it the way it is. I'm a fan of this type of pic, where the sky is threatening. I luv it! THe only thing I wonder is how it would look w/o the branch at the top.

Liban, John, Tyson, jkriminger, Tom, and GB. . . .certainly a mixed feeling on this one. I really appreciate your straight up honesty here and, although this photo appeals to me for whatever reasons , I'm well aware that it won't work for most.
I've tried some of the suggestions of removing the leafs on top and the letter style crop but i'm not too happy with the results. Might this go well with a series of scenes from Bucks county? I'll put this aside for now. .
    thanks again.

Well damn that explains it I knew it looked familiar, just couldn't place it as it's been 14 years since I was there. I have friends who live right near there, on the same road
If I can think of the road there is a really old log cabin that was built originally 200+ years ago and has had some additions to it since, but it would be good for some photos. It's North of Quakertown in the Springtown area. I'll have to check a map and let you know where it is. There are also lots of covered bridges.

Hey, if you like snakes you can get some great snake pics at Lake Nockamixon. Up by the dam you can find rattlers and down on the southwest end just to the west of the bridge where it looks like swamp you can find snakes sunning in the trees, just watch how far you go in, we once had 20 or so that joined us in the boat It reminded me of one of those swamp movies. You don't want to walk in there, go by boat!

JS,Lake Nockamixon was nice. . .we went by the fishing pier where i posted a shot of some Kayaks that were being promoted by L.L.Bean. and we went over by the marina.
I'm not interested in snakes,( I watch enough of them on video and cable with my son) but those locations at the ends of the lake sound interesting nonetheless.
Yes, we spent hours searching out at least 5 or 6 of the twelve covered bridges in the county. They are pretty cool to drive through and spend some time near, but very hard to get good photos of them as they are so cluttered and buried in their suroundings.
Yeah, the old cabin sounds promising . . . .
