    Shapes and Patterns

Two more shots from yesterday's sunshine. I appreciate any thoughts.

I really like the first one and the various shades of brown. You get a distinct feel of the varying textures as well. I like the second, too, but cant make up my mind about the grass/pinestraw/hay that is around it. Love the color though.

I like the first. The lighting is bringing out the charm of the weathered structure and the blue sky contrasts it well. the second image looks to be a great subject, but the straw/grass in the fg is distracting the patterns for me. Also, it does not appear to be quite sharp enough.Funny thing about the focus on that one, the shapes that appear to be in the back layer are sharp but the others nearer are not. Was this intentional, or autofocus?

    Re: Shapes and Patterns

Thanks to everyone for their comments.

Gary, You caught me. I was walking past this fence while going toward another pattern shot that I'd seen from the road (These bleachers which I don't find very effective now) and didn't take the time to set this up, just held the camera low and shot a couple frames. From everyone's comments I guess it would be worth a return visit for another try at the fence. I think I'll try the focus both ways and also try maximizing the sharpness of both foreground and background fence. I like having the dark far background and I'm not sure that I mind having the near fence a bit fuzzy but it will be worth looking at.

    Hey Chunk,

I think that first shot is a great juxtaposition of old and new structures. The exposure is just perfect given the harsh mid-day sun. Good job. (I am curious as to why there is an anemometer on top of the building that look's like it will blow over at the next good storm...)

I also like your bleacher shot.
