In The Service Of Their Country

Found this memorial to WWII and Korean war veterans in the small Southwest Michigan town of Dowagiac. Unfortunately it was a bit overcast, so forgive me if this is a little on the dark side.

    Hi
For me, the Lamp post spoils the shot by stealing my attention. At least, I think it is a light pole or lamp....

Well, Kizz...........here's the deal with that lamp post----I tried to position myself where I was getting the memorial marker and the background fountain lined up, and wouldn't you know there was another lamp post in the spot where I was taking the shot, which prevented me from doing that without contorting my body in such a way that I'd have been at the very least ,in severe pain, and at the very most, arrested for obscene behavior with a stationary object . I'm going to go back to that place because I was unhappy with the fact that the sky was overcast all morning. I'll try to remember to find a way to get that post out of there. In the meantime I'll see if I can clone it out. Thanks for looking and thanks for the comments.

How about a vertical crop? I'm afraid that if you clone the post out the statue to the right of that will become distracting and the plaque to the left of the stone after that. It may aslo solve your sky issue.

I too would be tempted to clone it out on an overlay. I think I might be tempted to make this a composit shot anyway. A shallow depth of field for both the staue (pretty) and the headstone, then blend the two together. Ok, it's not done in one go, but then, the best illusions never are.
