    Serenity in the Suburbs

Found these wonderfully calming scenes right in the middle of a busy residential area of a NYC suburb.

    Re: Serenity in the Suburbs

I generally like the shots. I have small critiques to offer.

The pagoda shot I would like more with less foreground. The negative space in my opinion is not needed.

I like the flower in the water a lot. Maybe toning down the reflections in the water will bring out the flower more. You don't want to brighten up the flower since you might lose detail there.

I like the chairs but I'm curios to see it without the left and right framing. The muted colors of the chairs against the red paint look interesting.

Maybe you can leave your watermark in the corner so you don’t have to disturb quality of the photo.

    Thanks for sharing.

I would like to read other people's opinions on these.

That second image is a masterpiece. Such simplicity and beauty. The first shot is ok but it looks like too ordinary a scene. I think the dark edges around the third shot are overkill.

    Re: Serenity in the Suburbs

Thanks for the comments - it is great to have other eyes look at the shots.

I see exactly how to crop that first shot - will give it a try.
The dark sides around Teddy Roosevelt's chairs are the fence I shot through getting in the way, but I think I can PS that a bit to get it out of there, or tone it down. I actually like the way that darkness seems to blen into the picture, but yes, maybe a bit too much. I'll give it a try.

As for the watermark, I had a friend who had a pic stolen with watermark in corner - they jsut cropped off that corner. So I guess maybe I am a bit gun shy on putting it there in a pic where a crop would work (Not that anyone would want to steal My pics).

    Thanks again!

The second shot is simply spectacular.
