    Self-Potrait

I don't know how I feel about this shot. I took it this morning in the mirror next to my desk. The sunlight was coming in the window behind me causing the light on my face. I feel like it has editing issues but I not skilled at editing and can't seem to deal with the light/dark issues well.

C&C? Thoughts? Is this an image worth keeping and trying to edit or is it a toss out?

I'd toss it and try again with different lighting.
Try soft lighting from the side, mabye even candles or a small watt bulb, not hard lighting on one portion of your face like this. That not only creates places too dark and too bright, it is reflecting in your eyes.

Nice thought and great attempt. It is a little much on the contrast side.

I agree with Ron, some softer lighting will definitely help with this shot. Worth trying again.

Great, thanks for the suggestions. This light is pretty harsh in the morning so I may try a sheer over the window tomorrow to soften it up.

    I agree, toss it.
I think I see the mood you are after, but the lower part of your
    face is to hot.
Depending on the feeling you want to convey, you can bend the rules of
soft lighting for a dramatic and contrasty B&W effect, I dont think there
is anything wrong with doing that, it either works, or it doesnt.
But in this case, it doesnt look right.

I think you have the right idea using B&W for this kind of mood though.

I rather like it and the contrast. It would be some better if the harsh light were just a little softer.
