    Seating For Two- No Waiting

Taken this past weekend at Lake Almanor, about 200 miles north of Sacramento.

Great shot. I love the spots of red that contrast the stars (is contrast the right word?). Maybe a little less of the foreground. Oh, and I like the empty chairs as well.

I figured the canoe was what had the seating and then I saw the chairs. Either works for seating for two.
The chopped float on right is a bit of a problem but don't know what you could have done to maintain the composure otherwise.
Did you add the stars? They look artificial.

    Hi Frog,

The stars are not fake. This is one exposure, not an HDR, cropped on the right to remove a bright light on the opposite shoreline, with a bit of a bump in contrast. Thanks for leaving the comments.

Great shot! I dont think the stars look fake. There are a lot of competing elements in the image that provide some distraction, but not too much so, theres a rock or something in the close foreground that I think could be cropped, removed, or something to look better and less distracting. Also, of course, the shoreline is tilted.

Re: Seating For Two- No Waiting

I suppose it looks a little fake to an experienced photographer because we almost always fail to get a night shot this well exposed with the foreground and stars all lit. So, nice work. I find the composition a little disturbing with the row boat so centered, but it is more because I am not used to it. Great shot.

    GB,

Thanks for the comments. I was/am not thrilled with the canoe so centered either. But, there were far more disruptive elements along the shoreline that would have really caused a problem. So, I choose the lesser of evils. I appreciate your input.
