    i think its a cool concept, but i think that the contrast might be too strong to see some details.

    I like the idea alot...but if i were to change one thing, i would somehow make the bird differ from the background somehow, but other than that i think its a great shot

    You might try using Levels and Curves tools in PS to get a more neutral contrast to the image. I also seem to see artifacts (white spots) in your image that could be removed too. Was this a scan from a neg?

    I love the effect the black and white has on this photograph... I think it might need to be cropped on top just a smidge but I really like it. =)

    All that is gold does not glitter,
    Not all those who wander are lost;
    The old that is strong does not wither,
    Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
    From the ashes a fire shall be woken,
    A light from the shadows shall spring;
    Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
    The crownless again shall be king.

    Beautiful take on the subject. I was expecting something totally different when I clicked on this thread and you blew my mind away! If I would change anything it would be to crop out some of the black on top, that's it. Everything else is perfect IMO.

    Very nice capture indeed!
