    Scottish Wildcat

I was at the Five Sisters Zoo in West Calder in Scotland a couple of days ago, and the Scottish Wildcat was right up at the bars of his cage, so I took a couple of shots. I'm sorry about the hazy look on either side of his face, that is due to the bars getting in the way of my camera.

I accidentally pressed the wrong function on Photoshop ( ) but I actually quite like the over-the-top bold colours. It matches the cat's personality (you should have seen him rip up the little chicks!).

Then he yawned. I love it when cats yawn, but I always seem to miss it. Randomly pressed the shutter button and actually managed to take a shot! It's not great but... oh well.

My camera is a compact point-and-shoot: a Canon G9. So I can't change lenses etc.
So, what could I do in the future to improve the photos, and what can I do to what I've already got?
What do you think of the accidental Photoshop edit?

    Thanks everyone,
    Kathryn

I like the first best and the only problem I see is the chopped ears.

    Thanks for replying.
Is there anything else I could improve on?

    Re: Scottish Wildcat

I would not say the G9 is a point and shoot, it's got way more features than that.
Maybe one shot in portrait format would have worked, and got the ears in?

I found my shot-to-shot time went from about 4 seconds with "high speed" memory cards from Aldi, to 1.5 seconds with a Sandisk Extreme II (about 60x speed).
If you're having the same problem of waiting what seems like ages to get the next photo, try a faster memory card.

Great stuff Kathryn, it has to be the first one in my opinion, like the last one is also a good capture,

    Thanks for sharing
