    Save or send?

I took this picture of a black capped chickadee in-flight. The image was a little blurry so I applied a filter to it... to give it a painted look. Is it worth saving, or should it go to the trash bin? I really wish I would have got a sharp image of him/her

I like it. It has an impressionist look to it. There's more to photography than having all your images crystal clear. Having an understanding of depth of field will help with sharpness as will just shooting many times until you get what you want.

I think it works. The composition is good and the colors in the background lend to paint like quality. This could be effective if you printed it out on canvas type paper.

Thanks Jim and Phil, I'll order a print on canvas type paper (I was thinking the same thing) and hopefully it wont turn out too bad.

I don't agree with the impressionist comment. It works in painting because the finished product doesn't usually look blurry due to the brush strokes and layers of paint. It's still "in focus" so to speak. In photography, you don't have brush strokes to fall back on, so blurry is just blurry. If it were me, I probably wouldn't keep the picture, or I would use it in a collage where it wouldn't be the primary focus of the piece.

Thank you for your comments Liz. This is one image that I really do not want to delete... these little birds are incredibly fast. I'll try to figure out something to do with the image
