Thats some good betting..... i must say i really like the shot, i like the distance from the horses to the right, showing they are near the finish line with alittle more to go, and lovly colors as well good work

I agree that the colors are nice and that the image is sharp, but I just don't find the back side of the horse nearly as interesting as the other end. While you had no control over the background from your shooting angle I think that backstretch equipment is a big detractor to the overall effectiveness of the image. I hope I haven't been to negative in my assessment but there were some elements that bothered me about the image and since this is critique forum.....

Yeah I think she works for the newspaper, so she's getting paid for it.

From what I see though, the newspapers photographers don't know how to take pictures.

I like it. Different perspective than the normal front or side shots. Also like how you got the one horse with all four hooves in the air (or appears that way). Great catch.

I hate to be too critical also as the colors are so bright, the image is so sharp considering they were moving away from you at 35 mph. But I think the stronger shot would be to crop out the entire right side of the photo and remove the striped pole. That is just me, fun to look at though.
