Eric, my first impression is that this image is too flat. For as much sky as you are emphasizing, I'm wishing for more texture/detail to be visible in the clouds. Or some dramatic light rays from the sky. Something along those lines.

I don't know how far away this pier is for you, but I would definitely be watching the evening sky for other opportunities to present itself.
