    Sand Patterns

Last one, I promise......this was one of my last shots of the beach before we left, it was low tide, and I found some sand no one had walked on yet. I loved the patterns.....any comments or critiques?

    Re: Sand Patterns

    Hi -

Hmmm.... The patterns are OK, except for the white object on the right. But the colors are somewhat muted: I'd lighten it up about 1/2 - 1 f stop.

You might also have been a little too far away ... Maybe if there was a central object there, a central subject, then it would work as a pure background shot. Since you didnt have one here, I would have moved in and photographed only a section of these, maybe getting in 3-5 ripples instead.

I did some shots like this once, but had the advantage of a low sun to create contrast. Here it is.. I shot it out in the Yuma sand dunes on the AZ/CA border. I hear that they've shot several movies there, including a Star Wars scene.

    Thanks. that is beautiful.

This was shot around 8:30-9:00 in the morning, It was actually tiny ripples, I was right by it. The white object is a sea shell, I noticed it and forgot to crop it. I will play with it and see what I can do.

Chow...I like pattern-y stuff like this too, and can understand why it caught your eye. This, I think I would appreciate more if I could see it bigger...and I definitely agree about the shell.

    GB...love your shot as well.

Yeah, photobucket resized it alot smaller then I had. They are either huge, or way too small This picture does look better on a larger scale. Thanks
