    For Sale

I have had this one stuck back for awhile. I thought the clump of grass/weeds looked like a strange being crawling across the pavement. Does it work? Is there anything that can be done to improve it?
I took this with a 15mm Heliar lens.

    Re: For Sale

I think it works as an 'Americana' shot very well.
I suppose there are a lot of things that could be picked at 'photographically' but I don't think perfect focus, dof, composition, etc. would help this photo and might even detract form what it does.
    Hope that makes sense.

    Re: For Sale

Yes it makes since Frog and thanks, The 15mm Heliar doesn't connect to the rangefinder on the M6 so you have to guess focus. But is has an amazimg DOF and minimum focus distance you rarely miss focus.

    Hi Grey,
The noir humor works. I especially like the for-sale sign which increases the feeling of the DoF.

    Re: For Sale

Greg, about the only thing I would have done would have been to back off to catch more of the house. It's not bad though.

I just wanted to add that I admire your eye for spotting this shot. Most would have seen the sign or the house and missed the connection. I would have anyway.

Good eye Greg! That plant does have an alien type look, adds interest.Very well exposed, the composition is effective as the sign leads you out. This needs nothing.
    Nice work

    Re: For Sale

Greg - it's a winner. There isn't a square inch of wasted space in the composition. It's extremely well balanced. It's the kind of shot which does very well in club circles in my neck of the woods. I would go far enough to say that this may well be my favourite image of yours.

    Re: For Sale

Greg, the 3 dimensional effect of the sign is great here. Might like to see the entire sign, not cut off. Little more DOF on house..good eye!
Please ask to edit photos and I'll do the same!

Looks like some of the houses around my suburb! The photo looks great. I wouldn't change a thing!

    Re: For Sale

Greg, I agree with Mike. This composition is very well balanced and the subject is good. The focus seems to be i the immediate foreground with a fair dof which works well here. I like the sign pointing up into the sky between the trees and then the patch of grass in the lower left fg. Very well balanced. I think not including the entire sign was good here as well as your low angle perspective.
    Nicely done

Greg, that is a perfect shot. I love it. I have nothing to add to it but I do like it.

    Re: For Sale

Thanks Gary and Tyson. I am glad it works. The DOF is narrow due to the slow speed of the lens and I was using 100iso Reala. It was late in the day and I had to shoot wide open.

    Re: For Sale

    Greg -

Interesting idea. The sky's a bit dark but that may enhance the shot. I am not sure about the contrast in styles between the house and the sign however. The sign's arrow is 50s Main Street, whereas the house doesn't fit that description ( I am not sure what the bottom part of the sign is made off .. hmm. Looks like something off a farm). Actually, I think I would do a shoot of the sign only, just to see what you get.

    Re: For Sale

well done greg, i really like this shot, the sign leads you in and then lets your eye flip to the house, the way the trees are out of focus in the background keeps your attention on the sign, house and the alien bein in the foreground. i would agree with others that maybe more of the house could have been captured.

    Re: For Sale

Now I wouldn't want you to get in trouble or do anything illegal or immoral but I'd sure consider stealing that sign if it appears abadoned. Could be a great prop for other photos.
