    Sad sad sad

Trying to get my life back in order, I did some senior portraits for a friend. Two weeks ago today my daughter almost killed herself in an auto accident (my SUV) and after getting home from the hospital she packed her stuff and moved out. Go figure, I will never understand the teenage female mind. Anyway, I am open to C&C

Wow, that is tough - my heart goes out to you, hang in there.

Nice shot - possibly a little tighter crop left and bottom, otherwise nothing to suggest here.

    Re: Sad sad sad

Sorry to hear about the family issue. A friend of mine with older kids than me claims the kids really need to be over 25 before they appreciate their parents at any level. Maybe he's right.

As for the photo, I think it is a good one. I bet the guitarist likes it. I don't know who that is in the background, but if its a girlfriend, I would be leary of including her. High school girlfriends can change quickly and unexpectedly and the boy might end up with a photo that he doesn't like anymore. (I've seen that happen...)

The perspective does give a bit too much prominence to his feet and I'm not sure what I think about the girl looking toward the camera and his looking down. It makes the photo more about her than the blur given to her would suggest. The porch/guitar/folksy thing is nice.

A very good photo by any standards. The things I point out are just what we think about as nitpicky photographers.

She is his sister also graduating this year I shot them together in a few shots. They are a real good family mom dad brother and sister. They are what my parents would call good people but no one says that anymore.

I like the whole idea and the execution except that you happen to hit my two personal pet peaves. I don't like slant for no reason and I don't like the 'wide angle/big feet' look. - Terry

Tyson - Sorry to hear about the family issues, but looking at the good side, your daughter apparently wasn't seriously injured in the crash, and that's a great thing.

As for the image, it sort of throws me with that tilt. I like the tilt though, nice creative addition. The gal behind him is also a nice addition but might be a little too close to him in the image: however, that does symbolize that they're good friends. Great black and white contrast, too.

Good shot, only thing I didn't like about it was the female behind and hidden by the male I think it woul;d have looked better with her more to the left. To me the 2 bodies blend to much.

I agree with SkipT. I really like the image but think it may have worked better with the girl further behind and slightly more to the left to give a greater depth. Lovely shot though!
