Trying to get out there and shoot more. Thought this would make a good subject. Thoughts?

Great smoke plume. I would loose a lot of the FG. Get closer and concentrate on the main building and the stack and smoke for sure. Also brighten it up a bit, a little too dark.
Good subject, worth the effort, IMHO.

That sure is a small power plant. But I like the openness of the second one my only problem would be the tank cut into on the right. Maybe crop it just left of it. I like the nasty foreground, I agree also if you could get closer too. On shots like theses I like to shoot when the stack safety lights are on and blinking and use a long exposure to catch them all. On stack shots the PS skewing tools are your friend. Make sure you get them level.

I like the first composition better - the stuff to the right in the 2nd does not add much to the overall image. Also, I like the muddy foreground, as it servers to "anchor" the image and give the impression of the environment. Nice job on the levels / exposure as well - the steam is light just right, with the correct amount of tonality throughout - which I quite enjoy.

I like the composition of the first one. The steam leaves in a good spot and the power poles/lines tell us what it is. Maybe just a little less on the left (or more on the right). so that the space from stack to edge equals the space on the right from pole to edge. - Terry

Thanks I appreciate everyones feed back. Now I want to go back and try to apply some of these suggestions.
