Cool Roll Over Ansel, Part I

Yosemite shots here, taken less than a week ago.

Sorry for the large number of images, but it's probably better than posting them individually. I've attached numbers, if that helps(?)

    GB

    # 1 Yosemite Trees - These two trees look pretty friendly.

    # 2 Yosemite Trees 2 - A little closer shot of two other trees.

    # 3 Stream - This one does seem like Ansel Adams. It's desaturated.

    # 4 Snow and Wood - might be better b&w.

    # 5 Snow and Mountain - Is this El Capitan? Not sure..

    # 6 Trees and Mountain - this shot looks so oversaturated compared to the others. I did shoot on the camera's "vivid" setting to add a little spice, which may have caused it.

Re: Roll Over Ansel, Part I

IMO, I think overall this group of photos looks better than your Yosemite Woods (which seems like you didn't quite achieve what you wanted to do and show...my guess).

    I think composition-wise they're better, more focused.

I'm not sure why the snow on photo #1 looks blue/purple though. I guess it's still better than yellow snow ;-)

I find the snow in your b&w photo and part of it in photo #1 too white, like blown highlights (that's why I cropped that snow in the bottom of your Yosemeite Woods despite the beautiful water reflection and also added a frame to the photo). The snow is much better rendered in the rest of the group IMO.

The red trees in the last photo also spice up the photo, too.

I like 3,5, and 6. Clone the branches protruding from frame in 3.
The trees and wood with snow are ok..just could be trees from anywhere with snow.

AE - I agree about the blown highlights. This is one of the issues I'm finding a lot lately, like perhaps it's a digital photography thing.................................???? Just seems like it's much more prevalent in my shots now than before. I really tried to find the right balance of light and contrast in PP. What I came up with is what you see As for the blue snow, maybe it has something to do with the white snow catching the blue sky. Not sure though -- there wasn't much blue up there due to clouds. Btw, yellow snow?? That doesn't sound too pretty.

Frog - Thanks for the # 3 idea. I will clone them out. You don't understand about Yosemite tress .. They're special trees, and can be identified by any botanist at any university in the world.
