    Rocks, water and fog

It is kind of hard to take sweeping ocean shots when you can't see 20 feet in front of you. This is what I came up with instead (using a circular polarizer).

Thanks in advance for your comments.

Too much contrast between the sky and the rocks on the right.
    No, I DON'T need that.

You know, I've seen shots like these reworked to make it look like the scene is floating on air by putting more of the white around the whole left, right and bottom. I don't know exactly how its done but, if you could maybe do that with this shot, that might save it. Just an idea to try!

Another thought. crop ~1/4 from the top and left edge. This would keep the very intresting areas and trim off the harsh edge at the top and the washed out area to the left. I like the rest of the composition.

The foreground is very nice but the sky is just blown too much. I realize it was a gray overcast cloudy day. but I feel you could recover quite a bit from the sky. As stands it is a big distraction with that blown sky. I would have used a GND filter or even a ND filter in a situation like this. Just picked up a Singh-Ray Vari-N-Duo filter a 8 stop ND filter combined with a Polarizer all in one and it is amazing especially for images like this pricey but worth every penny.

Thanks for the suggestions. I just got a graduated ND filter, but haven't had a chance to use it.

There is actually no real sky in this picture; just dense fog that started to burn off which made the fog bright white instead of drab gray. When you looked out 20 feet, you couldn't see any separation from water to sky so this photo is a pretty accurate presentation. About thirty minutes after this photo was taken, it was a typical blue bird day.

I might try the crop suggestion and trying to reduce the contrast so it is not quite so glaring.
