    Rock City Barn...Reshoot

I got a chance to get back to this one today. I am thinking of making and selling a calander of local barns for next year. So what do you think of this one? Thanks...

No one has commented yet? This is excellent! It's a little cool (and I'm sure it's not my monitor since I just ran it through a colorimeter) but with a touch of warmth to it and maybe a touch of exposure in photoshop will make this worthy of sale.

Much more interest in the sky, a lot better than the first one. I'm with fx, it is a little on the cool side and could use a little +EC.

    Greg,

Good subject and composition, but I'm not so sure about the lighting. I guess it depends on what you're trying to get across, but I would bet that this would look incredible in early morning or late afternoon.

Of all of your barn photos I've seen, this is the best as far as I'm concerned !

Still, a little bit more contrast won't hurt though.

Well done, Greg. A calendar of barns is a good idea. This is a fine photo but I think if you got this with a very early or late afternoon lighting it might be even that much better.
    love these subjects . . .

    I like it too.

If it were mine, I would boost the contrast, saturation of blues, and increase the midtones a bit - I find that I lose quite a bit of midrange when printing, regardless of the calibration between printer and monitor and file. I think it has something to do with luminance - it seems brighter on a monitor because it is backlit. In any case, I always use curves to slightly over contrast and over midrange my shots for print, and in my opinion that makes them better prints.

Another thing I would be tempted to do is use a bit of dodge on the sign, where it is shadowed. It might be possible to bring that out just a bit more. A very small amount of burn on the grass and the corners in the sky might help draw the viewer in too.

I think the temperature is OK since storms are supposed to be cool. I also think it needs more contrast - but - that would would decrease readability of the barn text. I would add some contrast to the sky only (and possibly make it a tad darker) and perhaps bump up the saturation on the grass.

Nice shot, and a lot of PP potential!

Thanks everyone I agree the golden hour would probably work better maybe the morning since I am shooting west. I will put it in Lightroom and play around with all of the great suggestion. Thanks a milion for all of the help.
