“A great photograph is one that fully expresses what one feels, in the deepest sense, about what is being photographed, and is, thereby, a true manifestation of what one feels about life in its entirety...” - Ansel Adams
These are interesting images but I think that is because of your content and not your composition. For the first two I would have repositioned so as not to clip off Mr. Brewer's head. I realize you probably had a compromise to make between including the length of the board or including his full head. Taking a step back or using a wider angle lens would have been a solution to this. The third image has too much information. I think framing it vertically and coming in closer for more detail of his face would have been more appropriate there. The clutter and distractions in the yard make him feel small in comparison when he is really a giant in his field. Keep shooting!
I have listed myself as a beginer which i am in photograhy and learning to post pictures correctly. Mtbbrian- I have no evil intent in posting these pictures. It takes time for me to take them and post them . I know my subject matter is very unique to this forum and i thought your members would enjoy them and help me along with my photos. Saying you dont know what my intent is is insinuating some thing bad on my part when you should be welcoming people from the outside in.The comments by the forum on my north shore police about the subject matter for fun is a plus to this forum ,members should be able to comment on the subject matter as well as the photogrphy. I am here to both share and learn. Greg Griffin- Surfboard builder 39 years- surfer 43 years - Mountainbiker 15 years.

There was no ill intent from Brian, just that these types of pictures would usually go in the viewfinder forum. Usually in critique you are asking about framing, composition, lighting, contrast, etc. They are great slice of life photos however.
