Hmm.. you had me expecting a guy in a cowboy hat looking at his farm, or walking down the dirt road away from his farm...
This shot's OK, nice shades of grey, but I'm confused as to what I'm looking at.. hint? It may be a little tight also, but I would be interested in others' opinions.

I like the black-and-white treatment. It's got a lot of nice texture that gives your subject character. But I agree that it's lacking context - at least for those of us who aren't farmers. I can tell that it's farm equipment. That's not a problem. But since your title makes the image sort of a memorial, I think we need something more to give it meaning - maybe an old barn in the background, a field - just something to place it better. As it is now, it's just sort of metal floating in the air. I do like the way you photographed it though, and I'd like to see you give it another shot and see if you can make it work better - for me, anyway
I really like the clarity and contrast of the shot. It brings out some of the intricate details. I agree however that it needs some context, as I'm not sure what I'm looking at and from the title was expecting to see a person.
Good shot, great focus! Only thing that I don't like is the framing, it kind of just hangs in space for me with no way to anchor it into the picture. Maybe a little more detail in the back ground would help set it into the frame.
I like the photo, but most i like the idea of Retired person, who worked many years and now rest like his tools are resting peacefully. They have done their work
