    Nice little animal you got there. This shot is a good start but it needs to be way sharper. This type of shot of lizards and stuff need to be really sharp and colourful to get that high key effect you were going for. I think a much smaller aperture and maybe some external lighting can do it. But i have no experience in this type of shot. It was a very good attempt though, just very soft.

    Need that tongue in focus also. Besides the eyes, probably the most important aspect of the shot IMO.

    Good and valid points. It was shot at f4 on a custom light table with "Hot Lights" that were being moved over the skink. That is the reason for the tongue and the body being "soft" and out of focus. I could have stepped back from the subject and taken the picture which would have caused more of the animal to be in focus.
