    For Rent

C&C welcome. Taken near downtown San Diego this morning. Not the prettiest street in town but I'm sure the rent is a lot more affordable than downtown.

Eh. I don't like either. They just don't feel special. There's nothing that screams, "Look at this", the photos are just... uninteresting. A lot of that comes from the straight on angle, try a different angle to where the signs can be read, but that doesn't make the image look flat like these do.

chase1234life - Thks for commenting. Yeah, they are sort of straight up shots. I was actually trying to get that effect of simplicity, but I guess simplicity can become boring if you don't throw in some creative elements along the way.

    Re: For Rent

That first one, "For Rent" appeals to me. It was a fine exposure in that hard light. i like the shadows hanging in the door, the blue strip at top and the creamy white wall. the little lock on the bottom of the door, the space and darkcrack under the door. It's very simple as you say but that is what I like about it. simple, yet allows my eye and mind to wander all over picking up the various little details. then there is the texture on the wall . . . this works for me.

    Re: For Rent

Thanks Gary. It personally reminds me of Baja California, where the bright sun creates a lot of contrast and wash out. I'm thinking there may be some good ".source material' in this shot for a future collage (I'm always keeping stuff like that open).

Guys, I just thought of a great winger here: a very attractive model, like an escort, posing in front of the door. The the "For Rent" sign will really work.

The "For Rent" image is the one that works the best for me here. The saturation of the sky and the very even lighting of the wall make the colors and composition very important to the success of this image.

I'd say you have a mild success here, you have posted a lot better images but this one does work. Probably not a keeper but not bad and something to think about improving......
    No, I DON'T need that.
