    Reluctant Model

The model did not show for our recent club shoot so we commendered a fellow photographer. I think he suited the bill quite nicley?????????????

We were playing with a 4:1 lighting ratio, single light source to the right with a reflector to the left. Both the model and the cameraman are a tad underexposed (inexperienced that is.) Any suggestions for improvement are welcome.

man, I love this shot! Yes it's a bit dark, but the het throws me back to the 1800s Wild West days, and the model just FITS!

    I love it!

You could make this a sepiatone.

I like it. The lighting really sets a dark brooding mood that is also displayed in the model.

The only thing I would change is to bring in a slightly tighter crop at the top and bottom.

    This is a winner!!!

What a strong image. It certinly does send you back to old west. How would you like to turn around and find him standing there? What a great face.
To me the lighting is just right, it' s dark but I love the contrast. It gives just enough information.

One of the very best portraits I've seen yet on these boards. Great shot!

    Take 2

Thanks for your encouraging comments, I will be very interested to see what others at the shoot come up with??

The outfit he is wearing is one that may be seen even today on a drover or station hand in the outback and sometimes in the city. The coat he is wearing is called a "dry as a bone".

Kelly, I tried several spepia colourings and thought this one may suit, but not as effective as the b&w I thought.

For the right price I'll sell it to you

Truthfully, this is one of the first portrait shoot I've been part of and the response here gives me no end of encouragement to try again and maybe try something different.

    Thanks again.
