    Rehearsal

Hi all. I just joined the forum and thought I would post a pic to introduce my self. This was a rehearsal I shot last week with my girlfriend and a friend who is a dancer/choreographer. I am also a ballet dancer and I finished early that day so I thought I would pop in and snap a few shots. I wasn't expecting much as they weren't dancing much, just walking through the steps but a few of them turned out ok. I thought I would see what you think. C&C is like gold to me so critique away :cool-2:

Nice b/w processing, whatever you did. Not overdone.

I keep thinking that I'd like to see a shallower depth of field here. Or a tilt-shift effect on the left. I also might add a vignette in the interest of steering one's attention to the subjects. Good, though.

I love this kind of shot. Looking forward to more from you.

    Re: Rehearsal

first of all welcome to pr. hope u like it around here :-)

as for the photo, i think it's a nice b&w. the composition is good. like the angle u shot this from also. the only things that bother me are the slight overlap of the two dancers. like her elbow going in to his shoulder. i think if you've moved to the right abit u could've gotten a bit of separation that way. or if they were closer doing more of a dance move together, like with their legs perfectly matching, that might have worked better also. right now, it's in the 'inbetween' world. i hope this makes sense to you. anyways, good photo, looking forward to seeing more.

    Re: Rehearsal

Yeah, it is a good basic shot, but something about the large space on the left is bugging me. I think this would look good in a panorama type aspect ratio, but there is not much left to take off the top and bottom.
