    Red, White and Blue

I took this while taking pictures of my son's track meet. I think it came out really well. Leave it to me to go to a track meet to take pictures and end up posting a flag. All comments and suggestions are welcomed. The picture is actually a crop of a wider shot.

Very well done. The composition is wonderful and the wrinkles in the flag adds to the feel of the image. I also like the brilliant colors and dead on focus. You really pulled this one off well. How far away from the flag were you and what lens did you use?

I have to agree with Greg, this is a really nice shot. One can actually kind of feel the breeze that was moving this flag .

Makes you proud to be an Americ.... hang on, I'm NOT an American

Seriously, it's spot on. The simple ones are often the ones that work best. If that is a major crop, you have done especially well. I wouldn't change a thing.

    Cheers

The only thing I would change is to make the picutre a bit brighter, but other than that I think you took an outstanding picture here. Its one of the best compositions of the American flah I have seen in a long while.

Thanks for the kind words Greg. The flagpole is 25ft high. I was forty feet from the pole. The lens used was a Canon EF 75-300mm 1:4-5.6 III. I believe the shot was focused at 75mm. My camera was still attached to my new monopod from an earlier shot which helped a lot with the focus.

    Thanks Jason,
The breeze is one of the main contributors to this picture. It was also the main reason I had to take about a dozen pics just to get one.

Thanks for the complement and suggestion. I am not very good at post processing and tend to make things worse instead of better. I left this one pretty much as is. This was shot at 1/400 F/8.0 ISO 100 Metering mode Matrix and Auto White Balance. I did play around with it a bit with an editor but did not like the results. Once again thanks for taking the time.
