    Rectilinear

Does this photo work for anyone? Is it too boring?
Or does it just belong in the toilet? (I thought I would post this anyway ;) )
    Thanks for the help.

    Re: Rectilinear

Well it is not boring at all. But I feel you have a better photo within this photo. Perhaps if the top part was cropped and leave just the toilet and the timber fence behind it but as I'm typing this I'm having second thoughts. I think I could decide more easily if I did not have to scroll to view it all; easier to see if all image was visible on screen. Maybe it needs a human presence to add to the unusualness of it all.

    Re: Rectilinear

Is this two pictures? I seems like two pictures here. The fence and toilet, and the steel beams. If they are one picture, then it is too busy. Just the steel beams would be a nice study in shape that no one would be able to figure out what it was. The picture/pictures is a little confusing as is though. If you split them up, it might be easier to critique. Thanks.

Sorry about the confusion...I meant the toilet picture to be a joke as it really did not appeal to me. I did not think it would intefere with my original post. (doh!)
The beams is really what I want a critique on, but feel free to comment on both

I think the top part is a little too busy. I liked the toilet more (I'm not sure if this says something about me...). Maybe crop in tighter to the toilet and the wood behind, as Tom has already mentioned.

hmmm, not sure about this. i think I would leave it as it is. I like the contrast of the simple toilet and the enormous steel structures looming above. Something about the overall image that strikes a chord. I say, leave it, print it, and do not flush it.

just a thought. Being the "series " kind a guy that I am, I see a series here in spotting toilets in various odd settings, whether they be outside sitting amongst other discarded items or in an old gas station looking as if you wouldnt let your own dog use it. I'm sure its been done,, but a fresh take on it is always welcome. Just food for thought.

I like it a lot. It is a busy shot but not in a bad way. My eye keeps wondering and spotting textures and patterns. Good time of day for those strong slanting shadows. Nice work.

Thanks to all for your comments and help...ya'll are really helping me to improve my work.
This weekend I'll have to go see if the toilet is still there and see if I can't get a tighter crop or different perspectives.
The beam photo may be a tad busy but I kind of like it compared to the other minimalist photos I have taken.

Gary - great idea on a series. I'll keep this in mind...and the idea sounds fun to hunt down (dons safari hat and sanitary gloves) the odd and peculiar toilets of America.
