    Re: Recollection

I think it's a shot that makes you think. I like the photo of the girl but I wish that her entire chin area was visible, and perhaps more of her, say from the waist up. Or, perhaps just her face. It's also a tad bit dark on the right side (her back hair area). I like the plain-ness of the background, it allows one to focus on her. I would also have added a little more space above her head, seems tight as is.

Good luck with the photo stuff. -GB

    Re: Recollection

Welcome to the forum. . GB made some good points here. I also think that showing more of the face, especially the chin area would improve this. i like the background. It's soft color and simple texture is complimenting would allow a portrait to stand out nicely. In this shot, if you had placed a reflector (could be a plain white piece of board ) close to her on your right side, reflecting whatever light there was towards her it would allow for some detailin the dark areas of her hair. I would also include alittle less of the black area to the left of the frame and get a bit tighter on the face. We hope you stick around , there are lots of good people here that will be glad to offer there advice and experience. Looking forward to more pictures from you.

    Welcome on board,

Nice start with this photo and you have already got some valuable feedback.

One other thing that I would do is crop out all of the black and make the verticals vertical. I would be tempted to crop this at the first vertical line from the edge of the brick but that may make it too tight.

Personally the hair next to the chin doesn't bother me, but more light in the hair could help the photo.

    Keep them coming

I like the composition and the mood you've captured. It has a yellowish cast. An autocolor in PS faded about 50% looks good to me with more natural skin color.

Keep up the good work and show us more.
