Reach For The Sky--Radisson Pt 2

Another shot taken yesterday. As you can see the jagged lines are there again, and after researching a comment made on an earlier photo I posted last week, I remembered why. These images, after processing the RAW files in NC....I stupidly re-edited the JPEGS.
    Hence, the jagged edges.

John - That may be the problem. The jagged lines here are pretty bad here... Whatever causing that, don't do it. Or figure out another procedure to convert the images that won't cause this.

The pic is OK. I like the tilt, gives it a little character. I feel that architectural shots are somewhat difficult, it's hard to get a great shot. I like the sky here but wish it was slightly more dramatic (perhaps a polarizer could help) esp at the top of the shot.

On a side note, resizing an image will almost always distort it somewhat. I think most of us must resize to fit on this board. Combinations of pixels that depict lines etc cannot always be shortened or lengthened and still accurately depict the original object. Of course, sometimes you don't have any choice, but in general you want to avoid resizing for this reason. I don't think that this caused the jagged lines problem above cause I've never seen resizing alone do this to a pic, but just something to think about.

GB, I still have the RAW file, and I'm going to go back to it this afternoon and see about changing the workflow on these particular pictures, and try to see if that makes any difference.

I found the jagged lines show up when I resize the image.

I just took the original RAW file, and resized the output for the web in NC4. I then exported it to my imaging software, and it looks ok.

    John,

Looks good to me. I agree with GB, it's kind of hard to make arcitectual shots look good, but you did a pretty decent job here.

    Good job,

    John,

I found a routine for PSP that converts pictures like this beautifully by reducing the photo 25% of the difference until it gets to the final dimensions. Imbetween the reduction it applies and unsharp mask.

If you want the script to look at let me know and I'll e-mail it to you.

PS whats your e-mail address if you want the script.
PSSS forgot to mention I like the photo especially the angle its taken at. I agree with the comment about a polarizer to bring out the sky.
